Ahoy everyone..Welcome back to my new post. We already know about the international band like OASIS, RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE, THE BEATLES..but this time.lets go back to the homegrown band..the one and only ...
THE BUTTERINGER
It was the first indie band that make through the AIM(ANUGERAH INDUSTRI MUZIK) bringing their grunge music to the Malaysians. We already know about OAG, The Times, Bunkface, Hujan , and many others indie band that success today. But do you know how Indie actually came into Malaysia?
Ok, this where the history begins. in 1996, Butterfnger release their first album , the 1.2 Mg. The album sold, it met what the teenagers time. I still remember when the day of Grunge become a culture in Malaysia. On that time, everybody is so crazy about Nirvana, Radiohead and Audioslave.
The first band that popularized the indie style is Butterfinger and thats a fact. After Butterfinger appeared, then the other band like OAG, Koffin Kanser dare to came to Malaysia mainstream.
THE HISTORY
It started in 1991 when Loque or his real name Khairil Ridzwan Bin Anwar and Kadak who actual name is Mohd Fakhrudin Bin Mohd Bahar form a school band name Loque Tail. Then, both of them started to created their own lyrics, material, rhythm, and some sort of music thing.
It is worth remembering that this was during the start of the grunge era which managed to reach the shores of Malaysia in substantial force.
In 1993, Kadak and Loque go for jamming session in Black Widow studios when they first met Emmet or his real name Emmet Roslan Ishak was playing as a guitarist for his band currently name Grunge Dayz.
Emmet join Loque and Kadak after Loque and Emmet battle for the best guitar skill song both of them. Afte being impressed, a year later the band met their drummer Kalai and after that 4 of them officially form

Butterfinger first release their demo 1 Goat, 2 Apples, and 16 Oranges . As a result, many has thought the demo was the unreleased song by Nirvana because Emmet voice is sound just like Kurt Cobain of Nirvana.
THE FIRST GIG
butterfingers made their first appearance at the superUnderground music gig at Picadilly on February 1995. The gig and the circulation of their now very popular demo raised butterfingers into becoming one of the most recognizable underground bands at that time, along with other bands such as OAG, The Splatters and Spiral Kinetik Circus.

Emmet, the front man of Butterfinger. He can play many music instrument such as violin. The last time I met with him is in KAMI live in Bukit Jalil for the last.

The first album of Butterfinger came out in 1996 named 1.2 Mg. Even tough the Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain die due to suicide, the Grunge wave is not washable in Malaysia because the 1.2 MG album success in selling. Here some track list in their first album..

The Depature
After the released of "KEMBALI" album on August 2008, Butterfingers made several shows to promote their newest album. On 17 and 18 January 2009, they performed for the first and the last time for 2009 at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur that consist of 4 sessions for 2 days.
Tickets to all 4 sessions were sold out before the shows and it was a huge success to the band, and a good time to say farewell to their fans as Loque will be going back to Boston. Rumours of the band resting out for a long time spread out from the fans that saying Butterfingers will be back in 2011.
